NPI Lookup
Enter a 10-digit NPI to view the registry record's reported name, primary specialty, license and primary practice address where available. The NPI Registry does not confirm that a provider is currently licensed or credentialed.
Run the check, then ship the workflow
Use the browser tool for a fast answer, then move the same logic into scripts, monitoring, or product flows when it becomes repeatable.
Outputs highlight statuses, risks, records, and next actions instead of raw provider noise.
Use the request and response examples to turn a one-off check into an API call or recipe.

What this tool helps you decide
Each page is shaped around a practical operational question, not just a raw lookup.
See the current DNS, registration, security, pricing, or reputation evidence.
Compare the result with related checks so the next move is easier to trust.
Copy examples, open linked tools, or move into API documentation when you need scale.
Trust signals before you integrate
Transparent docs, authenticated requests, and visible reliability details make it easier to evaluate DomScan before you ship.
Check live service health and documented failure responses before you integrate.
OpenAPI, Swagger, Postman, CLI, SDK, and MCP links are one click away.
Authenticated endpoints use API keys with clear credit costs before you call them.
Start with 10,000 monthly credits and upgrade only when usage grows.
Key Features
Each lookup reads the current record from the official US NPI registry, with enumeration and last update dates.
This page shows the primary taxonomy and its license and state when listed, plus the primary practice address and phone where available. It does not show every taxonomy, address or mailing address in the full registry record.
The API reports whether supplied name, state and specialty details match the registry record. A field match does not confirm current licensure, credentialing or affiliation.
Example request
GET /v1/npi?number=1003000126&state=MD
GET /v1/npi/search?last_name=smith&state=CA&taxonomy_description=Cardiology

Frequently asked questions
It means the registry returned no active record for a well-formed 10-digit number. This result cannot distinguish a number that was never issued from one that was deactivated. If the registry times out or returns an unclear response, the result is unknown instead of not found.
An NPI must contain 10 digits and pass its check-digit calculation. A failed check means the number is structurally invalid; it may be a typo, but the check cannot say why. Invalid numbers are rejected before a registry lookup.
Yes. The API's /v1/npi/search endpoint accepts a first name, last name or organization name, with optional city, state, ZIP code and taxonomy description. Search results are registry matches, not independent proof of identity or licensure.
